Florida Softshell (Flapjack)
Our Florida softshell turtle is native to Florida, South Carolina and Alabama and is the largest of softshell turtles. They have a pancake-like leathery shell and long necks, which they use like snorkels to lift their noses into the air for breathing.
Michigan is home to the spiny softshell turtle, which is smaller than the Florida softshell, but resembles it with a leathery shell and long neck. They live in rivers or lakes and can sometimes be seen basking out on a log.
Our Florida softshell turtle loves worms and shares its tank with a big bluegill fish! Come visit them today!
