Painted Turtles (Jaques & Pierre)

Painted turtles are Michigan’s most common turtle. You can often find them basking on logs during warm days on ponds or lakes. Painted turtles get their name from their coloring, which is often red, orange or yellow.

We have two adult painted turtles animal ambassadors, and many living in the ponds throughout our property. Come visit them inside and outside!

Life span: up to 50 years

Size: 4-10 inches

Food habits: Omnivorous
